Silence is Golden

Posted on 28 September 2009

I’ve always struggled with writing blogs. Firstly, I thought it was because I couldn’t get my material out there. Then, there was the time factor.

It wasn’t until a few weeks ago when I realised that learning styles and delivery styles need not be the same.

You see there’s lots around about learning styles – whether we learn through reading and watching or through listening or experiencing.

There’s not a lot around about delivery styles – well not that I’ve seen at any rate.

It was only when I realised that these styles may not be the same that I explored how I best communicate my passion about marketing.

Then it came to me that I am most alive when speaking about my material than writing.  I should be having an audio blog … and yes, more about that later

Having this realisation means I now really understand that my blog will remain feast and famine while I only use text. To prepare blog posts, I need to have larger chunks of time than I tend to have.

So, over the next couple of months, I will record my audio blog and supplement my sporadic text posts with content straight from the horses mouth!

I am sharing this really so you can ask yourself whether your delivery style is the same as your learning style and make changes so you are communicating consistently!

How insightful Thanks Karen. I had never thought about delivery being like or not like one’s learning style before. If this is true my delivery style is like my learning style high activist/pragmatist so I’d fnd video and audio much more fun and inspiring that the blank piece of paper.

Oh dear something more for me to master!

Thanks for your comment Charlotte. Yes, I’ll be adding more audio and video on this blog soon.

If you are delivering your passion, the learning comes incidental!
